To paraphrase Morrissey, you knew it was gonna happen someday, and this week it did: the Sanjaya phenomenon came to an end. In the end, he was undone by a knowing but dull version of "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About" that left little to discuss other than his hair -- a fact so obvious he acknowledged it in his sing-out on Thursday night. Sanjaya might have dominated country night, but there were plenty of other things to talk about, including Simon's scandalous eye-roll and its subsequent split-screen dissection, Chris R stumbling on the road to "Mayberry," Melinda's sassy western swing, and Phil's shockingly believable transformation into a country star.
